INDONESIA took advantage of Gilas Pilipinas being idle, taking the solo lead in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (Seaba) Championship with a 95-52 blowout of Vietnam on Monday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Indonesians hardly broke a sweat against the Vietnamese, breaking away early on the way to their fourth successive victory and moving a half-game ahead of the Philippines.
Prastawa Dhyaksa and Sandy Kurniawan caught fire from long range, combining for 11 of the Indonesians’ 14 three-pointers to lead the Indonesians, who dealt the Vietnamese their second loss in three games.
Dhyaksa finished with a game-high 19 points, five assists, one board, and one steal in 23 minutes off the bench, while Kurniawan added 18 markers – all from beyond the arc.
Vietnam scored the game’s first four points, but the Indonesians went on a 13-0 blast to set the tone for the rout that saw them build their biggest lead at 45.
