JAKARTA – An Iran side led by Hamed Haddari overwhelmed Korea, 80-68, on Thursday to advance to the gold-medal match of the 18th Asian Games men’s basketball tournament at the GBK Istora.
Haddadi finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and four blocks while Mohammad Hassanzadeh Saber Akhlagh had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Iran, which never trailed and led by as many as 19 points in their semifinal match.
Following its 91-82 win over the Philippines in the quarterfinals, Korea turned ice cold after going 4-of-14 from three-point land. The Koreans also shot just 21-of-53 from the field, and only had four offensive rebounds in the match.
In contrast, Iran dominated the boards, 47-27, including 21 offensive rebounds.
Ricardo Ratliffe had 37 points and 12 rebounds for Korea.
