NATIONAL coach Yeng Guiao said he has no idea what the future holds for Gilas Pilipinas until he has a talk with Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) bosses in the wake of a dismal campaign in the 2019 Fiba World Cup.
Guiao and the entire team are set to arrive early Tuesday on a midnight flight from Beijing, where a Philippine side short in both luck and firepower suffered the last two of five straight losses that condemned it to a 32nd-place finish.
Amid a growing clamor for changes in the national program after the letdown, Guiao said he isn't making any plans until he has talked to top SBP officials led by president Al Panlilio and chairman emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan.
"Nothing is on the table right now as far as the future of the national team is concerned," Guiao said when contacted from Beijing.

While the winless campaign in China has spurred calls for a review of the SBP program, the national body doesn't have the luxury of time with the country set to host the Southeast Asian Games beginning November 30.
Gilas may also get a possible wild card berth for the Olympic qualifiers.
Guiao, however, declined to comment about Gilas plans until he has talked with SBP bosses.
"I'm not even thinking of the (Olympic Qualifying Tournament) for Tokyo yet," Guiao said. "I have to talk to our SBP bosses as soon as i arrive. We cannot tackle that problem yet until I meet with SBP officials."
As for his own future as Gilas coach, the veteran coach said, "I will have a serious discussion with my coaching staff and my family before my meeting with SBP.
"I do not want to speculate beyond that."
