JAKARTA – After a grueling match against China on Tuesday, national coach Yeng Guiao has given his players a day-off as the Philippines turned its sights to a knockout quarterfinal against Korea in the 2018 Asian Games.
The Philippine men’s basketball team feasted on Filipino food in a lunch hosted by a group of Filipino migrants - the same supporters who organized a practice session for the team apart from the ones set up by organizers.
The Filipino community also gifted Guiao with a native batik polo which the Philippine head coach gamely wore while posing for photos.
“We really appreciate it. Umay na kami sa pagkain sa Athletes’ Village. Pero we are really appreciative especially I know malaking gastos ito. Ganun na lang pasasalamat namin na nakabawas din sila sa homesickness namin,” Guiao said.
The Gilas squad along with the coaches also went to a mall to shop and watch The Equalizer 2 to relax, before plunging back to work on Thursday.
