Gilas Pilipinas is set to make history once again in its FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualification campaign in Guam on November 28 at the University of Guam's Calvo Field House.
This match kicks off the first window of the FIBA qualifiers and marks a pivotal moment not just for Guam basketball but also for the Philippine national team.

The Guam men's national basketball team will be looking to challenge the Philippines on home turf in what is expected to be one of the most anticipated sporting events being hosted by the island.
While Gilas will be coming in as heavy favorite, Guam, which has PBA guard Jericho Cruz as one of its mainstays, has been turning heads with competitive performances, including close matches against powerhouses China and Japan.
Adding to the excitement, Guam Visitors Bureau president and CEO Régine Biscoe Lee shared her thoughts on the historic event: "Guam and the Philippines have many shared ties, among those being a love for basketball. Welcoming Gilas Pilipinas to Guam is a celebration of that bond while showcasing how sports continue to bring our communities together and support tourism in meaningful ways."

"This is more than just a basketball game - this is a defining moment for sports in Guam," said E.J. Calvo, president and head coach of Team Guam.
Filipino fans living in Guam and nearby Pacific regions are expected to pack the Calvo Field House, which is currently being upgraded to meet FIBA international standards. Tickets go on sale in August and a sellout crowd is expected.
Following their game in Guam, the two teams will meet again just three days later in the December 1 return tie in Manila.
