GILAS Pilipinas Youth placed eighth in the FIBA U18 Asia Cup after a 89-78 loss to Chinese Taipei to end its campaign on Sunday in Ahmedabad, India.
The Nationals failed to protect a lead that reached as high as 14 points and ended up losing all their games in the classification phase.

Chog Moral had 22 points, nine rebounds, and three steals but Gilas U18 lost steam after Chinese Taipei went on a 29-18 tear in the second quarter.
Gilas Youth came out victorious, 89-88, against Chinese-Taipei to start the competition and wound up with a 2-1 win-loss record in the group stage after beating Thailand, 91-62, and losing to Australia, 107-69.

Gilas gained a place in the quarterfinals after beating Syria, 72-63, but lost to China, 117-103, at the start of the knockout phase.
Gilas Youth also lost to Japan, 80-75, in the classification phase.
