Gilas Youth drops penultimate U17 World Cup game versus China

GILAS Pilipinas Youth was routed once again, this time by Asian neighbor China, 85-66, on Saturday in the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Philippines never led in the game, and trailed by as many by 30 points as the youth team has been relegated to the battle for 15th place on Sunday, their final game of the tournament.

The Nationals have now lost their sixth game by an average margin of 49.5 points. They will face the loser of the Guinea-Australia match.

Yuezhou Li powered China with 24 points, while Wenwei He had 17 points.

Wacky Ludovice finished with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Cletz David Amos had 14 points for Gilas Youth.

China 85 – Li 24, Lei 17. Zhang 11, Fu 10, Wang 10, L. Liu 6, Shen 4, Fu 3, W. Liu 0, Feng 0, Chen 0.
