WITH Gilas leading Hong Kong by 30 points, coach Tim Cone kept Justin Brownlee on the court and sent young Kevin Quiambao and Carl Tamayo to play alongside him.
In the few minutes they shared the court, the naturalized hotshot was able to create back-to-back plays locating Quiambao and Tamayo to cap the Nationals’ 94-64 victory over the home bets.

While the move to expose the rookies during garbage time isn’t exactly novel, their chemistry on the court did not escape JB’s attention.
“Both of them have a really high IQ and have a knack for finding open spots to score, or even making plays for teammates,” Brownlee told SPIN.ph on Friday.

Brownlee led Gilas with 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists while Quiambao added 15 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Meanwhile, Carl Tamayo made two points, a board, and an assist in his first game under Cone.
Following Cone’s decision to keep this roster for the next four years, Brownlee is happy to have these kids represent the country.
“The two of them have a ton of potential… I love the energy and aggression they play with,” he added.
