Gilas Women U18 routs Vietnam to start SEABA campaign

GILAS Pilipinas Women opened the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers with a 93-42 rout over Vietnam on Tuesday night at the STI-West Negros University Gym in Bacolod City.

The Gilas girls showed their supremacy after a 26-7 second-quarter to open the campaign at home on a high note.

Rhiane Perez had 16 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks, and Zaydhen Rosano had 15 points and eight rebounds in the game where the Gilas girls had 28 steals that led to 55 points off turnovers.

US-trained Tiffany Reyes, daughter of former PBA player Jay-R, had 14 points, five rebounds, and two steals, while Sophia Dignadice, daughter of PBA legend Yves and a member of the gold-medal winning Gilas Women’s team to the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, had 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and six steals.

Gilas girls have already booked a place in the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup this year for topping Division B in 2024.
