GILAS Pilipinas Women's 3x3 stamped its class against Samoa with a 21-1 victory to open its 2019 Fiba 3x3 Asia Cup campaign on Wednesday in Changsha, China.
Afril Bernardino set the pace for the Filipinas, ushering the quick 7-0 start which led to the biggest winning margin in Fiba 3x3 in history.
Janine Pontejos finished off the mauling as she drilled the deuce from the left wing with 2:28 to spare.
Bernardino anchored the Philippines with eight points, as center Clare Castro muscled her way inside to nab six points.
Pontejos added five, while Jack Animam completed the cast with a pair.
Gilas Women's 3x3 faces off with Chinese Taipei at 4:10 p.m.
The Filipinas are now in a prime position in the Qualifying Draw A, with only the group's top seed advancing to the main tourney.
Carolett Autufuga scored the lone bucket for Samoa in the defeat.
