GILAS Pilipinas Women ended its stint in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Pre-Qualifying Tournament with an 87-62 loss to Senegal on Thursday in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Philippines proved no match for Senegal, which swept its group stage campaign to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

Jack Animam had 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals, while Naomi Panganiban capped off her impressive FIBA seniors debut with 14 points for Gilas Women.
Ndioma Kane had 21 points and five rebounds for Senegal.
Gilas Women opened an 11-point lead in the first quarter, but failed to sustain the momentum in the second where it was outscored 23-12.
The loss wrapped up Gilas Women’s debut in the Women’s World Cup pre-qualifiers, which also marked the first time the Philippines saw action outside the FIBA Asia zone.
Gilas Women started the competition by narrowly missing out on an upset, losing by just three points to world No. 8 Brazil, 77-74.
Hungary, however, took no chances against the Gilas Women in a 97-60 romp.
