THE Gilas Pilipinas women’s team bounced back with a 64-60 win over Iran on Sunday at the 42nd William Jones Cup held in the Taipei Peace Basketball Hall.
A third-quarter surge where Gilas outscored Iran, 26-9, proved to be the difference as the Filipinas got back on track after an opening loss to host Chinese Taipei A.

Ateneo duo Kacey Dela Rosa and Jhaz Joson scored 12 points each to pace the Philippines, which returns to action against Chinese Taipei B at 5 p.m. on Monday.
Jack Animam played a supporting role with seven markers, 15 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and three blocks.
Andrea Tongco and Gabi Bade also had seven points each.
Rasoulipour Khameneh Negin led Iran in the loss with 18 points.
