The victory over the Tall Blacks was the first-ever for Gilas, which also remained perfect through four games in the qualifiers to book a spot in the tournament proper set to be hosted by the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah in August.
The Nationals also remained at No. 7 in Asia in the rankings behind Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Iran, Lebanon, and China.
There was actually no major moves in the FIBA rankings with the exception of Asian team Qatar, which moved nine places to go up at No. 92.
Team USA remains at No. 1 followed by Serbia, Germany, France, and Canada.
Gilas Pilipinas booked a ticket to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 by virtue of sweeping the two games in the November window. It moved up in solo first place in Group B with a 4-0 win-loss record ahead of the third and final window of the qualifiers.
The Philippines will take on Chinese Taipei on February 20, and New Zealand on February 23 in a pair of away matches.
