GILAS Pilipinas coach Tim Cone plans to hold tune-up games with San Miguel Alab Pilipinas as part of the national team's buildup for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Cone said a number of tune-up games are being arranged, including one against Alab which incidentally is coached by Jimmy Alapag, who is also part of the Gilas coaching staff.
“We are still planning maybe in two weeks to have a pick-up game against one of the ABL teams, probably Alab, Jimmy’s team. We will see if that can work out,” said Cone.
The tune-up game will be beneficial to both parties, with Gilas Pilipinas preparing intensely for this year’s SEA Games where the region’s best will be participating.
Alab is also set to begin its preparations for the 10th season of the ABL which opens next month. Alab is planning to field three imports this season, giving Gilas a tough challenge in the tune-up match.
"Jimmy is going to help us with the practice game," Cone said.
