GILAS Pilipinas Women showed no mercy against Maldives, 141-18, on Monday at the start of its FIBA Under-18 Women’s Asia Cup Division B at the Futlan Sports Park in Shenzhen, China.
The Filipina cagers led, 43-11, at the start of the first quarter fueled by a 22-0 start, and limited Maldives to only a point after scoring 30 in the third period.
Gilas got the early lead in Group B following the 123-point victory in a game that saw the Nationals score 47 straight points at one point.

Nine players scored in double digits for Gilas Women with Alicia Margarett Villanueva and Jolyzne Myranda Impreso chipping in 18 points each.
Ashlyn Abong had 14 points and eight rebounds, while Margarette Duenas had 14 rebounds and three steals.
Mariyam Sifan was the leading scorer for Maldives with nine points.
The Philippines will next face Lebanon on Tuesday.
