SHOTS finally fell for the Gilas Pilipinas Under-18 Women's 3x3 team, stunning host Mongolia, 20-14, Monday for its breakthrough victory in the 2019 Fiba 3x3 Under-18 World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Angel Surada powered the Filipinas with seven points, as Camille Clarin got six in the victory.
Ella Fajardo added five, including the deuce that gave the Philippines a 9-5 lead which soon grew to a 15-9 advantage.
Enermaa Erdenebayar did cut the deficit down to four, 17-13, but Fajardo and Clarin connected on a nice drive, before Surada scored the last three points to put the game beyond reach.
Karl Ann Pingol added a pair for the Patrick Aquino-mentored Philippines, which ended Day One with an even 1-1 slate.
Only the top two teams from Pool C will progress to the next round.
The Philippines now take a day off before preparing for 2017 silver medalist Czech Republic and powerhouse Netherlands on Wednesday.
Ernedenebayar topped Mongolia with nine in the loss.
