GILAS Pilipinas is expected to face even more quality competition from Australia in their Fiba World Cup qualifiers rematch in July.
The Boomers are parading NBA players Matthew Dellavedova and Thon Maker of the Milwaukee Bucks in their away game against the Filipino cagers in the third window of the qualifiers on July 2 at the Philippine Arena.
Basketball Australia reported the development, making the Boomers even more formidable than the team that dominated Gilas, 84-68, in Melbourne last February.
Gilas will have his hands against the 7-foot-1 Maker, who is making his Australia seniors team debut and averaged 4.8 points three boards, and 0.7 block in just 16.7 minutes in 74 games with 12 starts for the Bucks last NBA season.
Dellavoda, a two-time Olympian, is making his return to the national team for the first time since the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The two NBA standouts join an already stellar cast featuring Jason Cadee and Cameron Gliddon, who both proved to be thorns in the side of the Filipinos last February.
