GILAS Pilipinas will now start its Monday practice on July 7 in its preparation for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
Head coach Tim Cone confirmed the start date after Sunday’s Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals between Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel.

Cone revealed a few weeks ago during the Power and Play program that the earliest Gilas should start practicing should be this Monday, June 30.

Sources said, however, that the national team won’t be complete if practice had begun this Monday, June 30 - particularly a couple of the overseas-based players who are currently in their offseason.
Gilas naturalized player Justin Brownlee has also not arrived in the Philippines, but is said to be coming in very soon, according to a source.
Nevertheless, the July 7 practice remains much earlier than the initial plan of the final week of July as the start date for the Philippines to prepare for the Asia Cup set from August 5 to 17 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
A send-off game against the Macau Black Bears, possibly at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum has already been slated.
