GIANT fastfood chain Chowking was unwittingly dragged into the social media furor over the officiating in the Gilas-China title match in the Fiba Asia Championship in Changsha, China on Saturday night.
Chowking, perhaps to its surprise, became a trending topic on Twitter as Filipino fans expressed dismay in the wake of China's 78-67 win over Gilas in what they felt was a poorly officiated game.
So furious at what they branded as 'luto' or 'cooking' by the referees, some fans event went to the extent of issuing a boycott on Chinese food through the social media.
Finding humor in the situation, Chowking's official Twitter account responded with a classic tweet.
“Wala po kaming kinalaman sa panalo ng China! Kung may lutuan pong nangyayari, sa kusina lang po namin yun. ;) #GilasPilipinas.”
