DARQUAVIS Tucker shone the brightest as Jordan shut the door on Gilas 5.0 with a 119-105 victory on Wednesday in the Fiba Asia Challenge in Tehran, Iran.
Tucker dropped 30 points in the first half where the Jordanians erected a 65-43 lead.
Mohammad Hussein added 26 points and 13 rebounds before decking Ed Daquioag at midcourt with 0.9 ticks remaining that caused a brief commotion between two teams.
Gilas showed signs of life in the third period behind Mike Tolomia, slicing Jordan's lead to 72-59. But Jordan simply shrugged off the challenge and sent the Philippine team to the classification round hurting.
Jordan carried a 29-point lead into the fourth quarter and even extended the lead to 106-73.
Von Pessumal topscored for Gilas with 30 points built on nine three-pointers, but made most of his shots during garbage time.
Also advancing from Group E are China, Chinese-Taipei, and India.
With a 1-4 card — its only victory coming at the expense of Kazakhstan — the Filipinos enter the classification for the bottom four teams.
Mac Belo, fresh from a 30-point outing against Kazakhstan, had 17 points and six rebounds.
Tolomia finished with 19 points.
