GILAS Pilipinas triumphed over Korean ball club Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, 81-76, on Thursday in their tuneup game at the San Miguel Corp. (SMC) gym in Pasig City.
The match was part of Gilas' preparations for their upcoming games in the fourth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian qualifiers where they will go up against Jordan on August 28 then Iran on August 30.
Korean Basketball League (KBL) mainstays Kevin Quiambao and Carl Tamayo got to play against a familiar foe in the Mobis Phoebus, who are in the Philippines to prepare for their own upcoming season.
Ulsan was also the former team of RJ Abarrientos when he was hailed as Rookie of the Year in 2023.
This time around, former University of the Philippines standout Gerry Abadiano is the Mobis Phoebus' Asian import.
