THERE were no surprises in the Gilas Pilipinas roster for the 2023 FIBA World Cup as Jordan Clarkson and Kai Sotto led the 12-man Philippine roster.
The two World Cup newbies join veteran June Mar Fajardo and team captain Japeth Aguilar in the lineup that also boasts of Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo, Dwight Ramos, Kiefer Ravena, CJ Perez, Rhenz Abando, AJ Edu, and Roger Pogoy.
Chris Newsome was the last cut in the team, joining Thirdy Ravena, Ray Parks, and Calvin Oftana in the sidelines from the 16-man pool that trained with Gilas in the final weeks of the buildup for the World Cup.
Newsome still joined Gilas in its open practice Tuesday night at Philsports Arena. But in the team pictorial that came out, the Meralco Bolt guard was no longer included.
Team manager Butch Antonio will submit Gilas' official 12-man roster before the technical and managers meeting on Wednesday night.
