    Gilas 3x3 team sweeps four games to zero in on SEA Games semis berth

    PHILIPPINE men’s 3x3 team swept its first four games to inch closer to a semifinal berth in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.

    The team of CJ Perez, Jason Perkins, Mo Tautuaa and Chris Newsome handed Vietnam its first loss in three games, 21-15, behind Tautuaa’s late three-pointer.

    The Ronnie Magsanoc-coached squad completed the four-game sweep with a dominant 21-10 conquest of Thailand behind the seen points of Perkins.

    The Nationals took down Indonesia, 21-17, before dominating Myanmar, 21-10, in morning play.

    The Philippines tries to clinch a semis berth on Monday morning when it faces Malaysia at 11:20 a.m. before taking on Cambodia at 12:20 p.m. to wrap the elims.
