NBA players Evan Fournier and Rudy Gobert powered France to the semifinals of the competition where it will face Argentina. Fournier had 22 points, while Gobert had 21 points and 16 rebounds for the French cagers.
The Americans missed the medal rounds in the World Cup for the first time since they finished sixth in the 2002 edition in Indianapolis.

Nando De Colo had 18 points, and Frank Ntilikina had 11 points for France, which dethroned the reigning World Cup champion with a quarterfinal victory.
Donovan Mitchell led three USA players in double figures with 29 points as the Americans failed to contain the French after giving up six straight points that broke a 76-76 deadlock.
