AJ Edu may be broken, but he's unbowed.
The Fil-Nigerian center vowed to be back stronger as he starts the long road to recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus on his right knee.
He posted on Twitter: "Looking up to him for guidance. We don’t always get why things happen, but it’s all for a reason. It’s all part of the journey."
"I just want to thank everyone for the messages and prayers. The love from everyone has been amazing, it’s gonna be a process but I’ll be back stronger."
The 6-foot-10 slotman injured his knee while going for a drive at the 7:57 mark of the first quarter in Gilas Youth's opener against host Greece on Sunday (Manila time) in the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup.
Without Edu, Philippine coach Sandy Arespacochaga was left with Kai Sotto, Carl Tamayo, and Geo Chiu for his frontline.
Gilas Youth, which lost a to Argentina on Monday, returns to action on Wednesday (Manila time) as it takes on world No. 19 Russia for its final assignment in Group C.
