GILAS Pilipinas is back in the groove, thanks to Jayson Castro’s fine shooting and playmaking.
The 29-year-old Castro made five of six shots from the three-point line and finished with 21 points on 77.8 percent shooting overall as the Philippines bounced back from an opening day loss with a 51-point demolition of Hong Kong.
After going just 3 for 8 in the loss to Palestine in the first match, Castro made sure to light up the scoreboard this time.
Dondon Hontiveros also recovered from a dismal opening game and scored 14, the fine plays rubbing off on the rest of the squad as Gilas made a huge improvement with a team total shooting percentage of 46.1 from a disastrous 33.8 the day before.
