GILAS Pilipinas women booked a spot in the semifinals of the Fiba U16 Women’s Asian Championship Division B with a 106-58 rout of host Jordan on Wednesday in Amman (Thursday, Manila time).
Playing their third game in just as many days, the Filipinas continued the solid play, scoring the wire-to-wire victory to go 3-0 in group play and qualify for the semifinals.

Defense continued to be the name of the game for the Philippines as they ended up with 28 steals, forcing 36 turnovers which turned into 45 big points.
They also limited the hosts to just 56 attempted shots while taking 100 of their own in the 48-point win.
Six Gilas players breached double-digit scoring with Kimi Sayson topscoring with 19 points. She also had four rebounds, six assists, and seven steals.

Ava Fajardo had 17 markers, four boards, five assists and two steals.
Though leading comfortably throughout the game, the Philippines really ran away with it in the fourth period where they outscored their opponents, 27-9.
Zena Alkarain did the heavy lifting for Jordan with 26 points in the losing effort.
Gilas takes a break before the semifinals on Saturday where they will face whoever finishes second in Group B among Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, and Guam.
The Gilas girls are seeking promotion to Division A with a win in this tournament after falling short last year where they ended up third.
