THE Philippines defeated Thailand, 70-51, to complete a sweep of the preliminaries of the 2015 Fiba-Asia Under-16 Championship on Friday at the Britama Arena in Jakarta.
Team captain SJ Belangel and Kris Pagsanjan had 10 points each in a balanced scoring attack for Batang Gilas, who broke loose via a 28-9 third period following a tight 30-27 score at halftime in the Group C game.
Jonas Tibayan added nine points, while Will Gozum added eight points and 10 rebounds in a fitting follow-up to a 98-58 win over Bahrain on the first day.
The Philippines will join the top three teams of Group D, which has China, Korea, Iraq, and India, to form Group F in the second round of the tournament.
