KUALA LUMPUR - Christian Standhardinger arrived on Saturday night looking fatigued but in high spirits, saying he looks forward to joining his Gilas teammates in the Southeast Asian Games.
The Fil-German center was coming off a whirlwind trip from Beirut to Manila to the Malaysian capital over the past three days, but said he doesn't mind playing in his second tournament for Gilas over the past two weeks.
"I don't make decisions. Coach Chot makes the decisions and I just follow his orders. You need to ask him. But I'm excited to help whatever I can," said Standhardinger in a brief interview upon his arrival at the Sunway Putra Hotel which serves as the Philippine delegation's headquarters.
The SEA Games will be the third successive tournament for the former NCAA Division I player, who previously suited up for Gilas in the Jones Cup in Taipei and the Fiba Asia Cup in Lebanon.
The 6-8 slotman said he doesn't mind.
"Yes, of course. I'm excited. Whenever I can play for Gilas, I play for Gilas," said Standhardinger, who was one of the key players of Gilas during the Lebanon showcase.
Although weary, Standhardinger vowed he'll be ready to go against Thailand on Sunday.
"I'm obviously feeling a little tired of this trip but I'm feeling good. I just need to eat and sleep and I think I'm going to be ready to go tomorrow," he said.
