Controversial NU Bulldogs recruit Encho Serrano takes act to PH team in Fiba 3x3 Under 18

    Jun 22, 2017

ENCHO Serrano confirmed he is now with National University to play seniors basketball with the Bulldogs.

Talking to after the first practice of the Philippine 3x3 Under-18 team on Wednesday night, Serrano said he has decided to play for the Bulldogs after a stint with Adamson last year in which he should've won the UAAP juniors MVP award had he not been disqualified due to an eligibility issue.

The Apalit, Pampanga-born guard declined to go into details about the transfer but confirmed he will still wait for another year in order to be eligible to play college ball.

Transferring to NU meant Serrano will no longer be eligible to play in the juniors division since he will need to take up a one-year residency. Season 80 was supposed to be his last playing year for Serrano in the high school division had he stayed with Adamson.

While he waits to become eligible in the UAAP, the 17-year-old focuses on his national team debut in the Fiba Under-18 3x3 World Championship in Chengdu, China from June 28 to July 2.

Serrano is thrilled to represent the country in the international stage, saying he is excited to team up with fellow juniors standouts Juan Gomez de Liano, Rhayyan Amsali, and Fil-Nigerian AJ Edu.

“Matagal ko na pangarap na makamit ‘yung ganitong liga,” said the 5-foot-11 Serrano.
