DWIGHT Ramos came to the defense of beleaguered Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes, saying it's disheartening to hear fans jeer the national coach.

Although appreciative of the 19,829 fans which came to Mall of Asia Arena to witness the Philippines' 84-46 rout of Saudi Arabia, the Fil-Am guard took exception to the boos which rained down each time Reyes was shown in the giant screen.

"Thank you for coming out and supporting, but if you're gonna support us, I'll appreciate you guys not booing our coach," he said.

Reyes has been under fire since returning to the helm earlier this year after he replaced Tab Baldwin as both national coach and the program director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

This game was no different as Reyes became the target of boos from fans inside the MOA Arena in what was supposed to be a rare feel-good moment for a team reeling from a close loss to Lebanon just days ago.

Ramos, who has been on both mentors, argued that regardless of the fans' feelings towards how the program went, they are still in one team.

"We're all together as one and I really didn't appreciate that. It wasn't a good way for us to start the game," said the Japan B.League import. "So if you're gonna support us, support all of us cause we're all in one team."
