THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced Dwight Ramos and AJ Edu won’t be playing for Gilas Pilipinas in the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
SBP executive director Erika Dy said both Ramos and Edu will be seeing action in the B.League Manila Games slated Sept. 9 and 10 here in the country, which means they won’t be available in the 20th edition of the Asiad.

Ramos is with the Levanga Hokkaido while Edu plays for Gumma Crane Thunders which will face each other at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“I think it’s safe to say that Dwight and AJ won’t be available because they’re playing in the B. League Manila Games. So conflict na yan sa schedule ng Asian Games kaya hindi sila makakasama,” said Dy in the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.

The Philippines is the defending men’s basketball champion in the Asiad.
Both Ramos and Edu likewise didn’t suit up for Gilas during the 2023 Asiad in Hangzhou, China straight out of their stint with the national team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
But Gilas still found a way to win the title as it finally ended the country’s 61-year gold medal drought in the quadrennial showcase.
