DOMINICAN Republic coach Nestor ‘Che’ Garcia likes what he is seeing from his biggest star Karl-Anthony Towns in the Fiba Basketball World Cup 2023.
Garcia said Towns’ skills are already a given being the star of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. But what he truly likes is how he has been engaged with his teammates.

“Karl, he can play inside, outside, he is a great shooter. But the most important is he smiles all day with us and he adopts too fast,” said Garcia.
Born to a Dominican mother, Towns re-joined the team after initially representing the country in 2012 when he was still 16 years old.
Towns’ current stint with Dominican Republic carries more weight following the death of his mother due to complications of COVID-19.
“He is very happy to represent Republica Dominicana because he has personal things about his mother. He remembers his mother. He is very excited to come back to the country,” said Garcia.
Towns joined the team’s build-up a few weeks ago, but Garcia noticed that the big man was immediately a great fit to the team.
“Most important thing is he is very humble. He is a star player in the NBA but his behavior is very humble to the team. The adaptation was really, really fast,” said Garcia.
