A GAME into his Gilas Pilipinas career, Quentin Millora-Brown appeared getting quickly comfortable with Tim Cone’s triangle system.
The Fil-Am big man said he’s slowly learning the intricacies of the triangle just three weeks after officially joining the national team pool and playing his first match with Gilas against Guam during the opening window of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.

The 25-year-old former UP Maroons stalwart played 17 minutes in his first game under Cone and delivered six points (3-of-5 field goal shooting) and 10 rebounds in an 87-46 rout of Guam at the University of Guam Calvo Field House.
Millora-Brown was part of Cone’s starting unit and immediately made an impact as he teamed up with June Mar Fajardo and AJ Edu in crashing the boards for Gilas, whose 61 rebounds now stand as the most in Asian qualifying tournaments history.
And the Washington DC native admitted he’s just getting started.
“It’s been good. We’re building it up step by step,” he said of his adjustment playing Cone's pet offense. “I feel I’m starting to get a grasp of it (triangle). But I know there’s still a lot more to learn.”
The latest addition to the Gilas pool – along with guard Juan Gomez De Liano – said Cone talked to him right away on what exactly the team will be needing from him especially with national team veteran Japeth Aguilar planning to retire from Gilas by the end of the first window.
“He’s (Cone) really talking to me about what my roles are, the usual things that you expect from a young guy, just play hard, work hard, and get to know the system,” said QMB.
Cone obviously gave Millora-Brown the passing grade right away.
“So really impressed at how fast he picked up the triangle and all the concepts that we’re trying to teach offensively and defensively,” said the Gilas coach.
