AJ Edu sees the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup as his chance to show another facet of his game.
"I've always been solid defensively, but I want to show people what I can do offensively," the Fil-Nigerian big man said.
Edu was the second-best shot blocker in the Mid-Atlantic Conference this past season, rejecting 1.7 shots agame in his rookie year at University of Toledo that earned him a place in the MAC All-Freshman Team.
"I wanna show people the hardwork I've been putting in," the 6-foot-10 beanpole said ahead of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth's campaign in the global youth hoops showcase.
Edu also liked the fact that he'll be paired once again with a new and improved Kai Sotto, who spent the past two months bulking up and honing his game in Atlanta.
The twin tower combo teamed up for the first time in the 2018 Fiba Under-18 Asian Championship, leading the Philippines to a fourth-place finish in Thailand.
This time, they hope that they can achieve more.
"It’s a really good relationship. He's a really funny guy and we learn from each other. He has so much potential and so much he can do in the future. There are things he looks up to me and I look up to him," said Edu.
"It’s really a good chemistry, not only on the court but also off the court."
