TAIPEI – Iran guard Mahdi Kamrani was in no mood to talk on Thursday - until the interview drifted towards the PBA.

The brainy guard's eyes brightened up when asked about a possible stint in the Philippine pro league, a chance he passed up in the Governors' Cup with Meralco owing to the 'delicate pregnancy' of his wife.

“Oh, I love the Philippines, I love your PBA, it’s very professional,” Kamrani, who had seven points and four assists in Iran's 74-65 win over Gilas Pilipinas, told a couple of Filipino sportswriters.

“I would love to go there and play and meet the Filipino people,” he went on without prodding. “I love your league, it’s very tough and very exciting.”

The 5-foot-10 veteran said his wife is past the delicate stage and is set to give birth in six months, which would give enough time to make a maiden appearance in the PBA if he decides to.

The Governors Cup will also be played at the end of the season of the Chinese Basketball Association, where Kamrani suited up this year.

“My wife is fine now,” Kamrani said. “She will give birth in about six months. I’m ready.”

The PBA board has once again given the green light for the use of Asian imports no taller than 6-3 for the Governors Cup next season.
