IT turned out Dwight Ramos was a game-time decision for Gilas Pilipinas in its FIBA World Cup qualifier against Iran on Sunday night.
The Fil-Am guard had flu-like symptoms the morning of the crucial match and needed last-minute medication to be available for the match.

“We were not even sure if Dwight was going to play (tonight). He woke up with flu symptoms and we had to give him a drip to get him ready,” disclosed Gilas coach Tim Cone.
“He was not feeling well at all and he was throwing up a little bit.”
But the 27-year-old guard hardly showed any signs that he was sick come game time and fiercely anchored the Gilas backcourt in a 68-56 win over Iran for a two-game sweep of the qualifiers’ fourth window.
Ramos finished with a team-high 16 points and scored eight in the second quarter when the national team was able to come back from an early 13-point deficit to take the lead at the break, 36-34.
He added seven rebounds, an assist, and two steals in close to 29 minutes of play that saw him struggle with his shooting from the field at 5-of-15.
Nonetheless, Cone was all praises for the Fil-Am guard.
“For him to come in and do the job the way he did was awesome,” said Cone of Ramos. “Dwight played a really awesome game.”
