CJ Perez likely done for the Saudi game after injuring ankle

GILAS Pilipinas is down to a 10-man roster entering the second half of its do-or-die encounter with Saudi Arabia in the 31st FIBA Asia Cup as guard CJ Perez sprained his ankle late in the first half.

Perez was wheeled out of the court after hurting his ankle midway in the second quarter of the game at the King Abdullah Sports City Tuesday morning (Manila time).

A halftime report by Cignal TV’s Carlo Pamintuan from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia said the San Miguel wingman is unlikely to return to the game which Gilas led at the break, 40-37.

Perez just played 70 seconds before going down with the injury, which was the same case suffered by teammate Calvin Oftana in the game against Iraq.

Oftana, who has been nursing a double sprain in both his ankles dating back to the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs, sat down the game against Saudi Arabia.
