NATIONAL head coach Yeng Guiao said Christian Standhardinger is already a shoo-in for the Philippine team bound for the 2018 Asian Games even after he missed Monday's first practice with the squad.
Guiao said Standhardinger's absence will not affect his inclusion to the team as he already has a spot in the Philippine squad bound for Jakarta.
"I think he is a shoo-in. Walang problema doon," said Guiao following Monday night's practice at the Meralco gym.
Standhardinger is one of the 14 players included in the Asian Games-bound Philippine squad even as his San Miguel squad is in the finals of the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals against Ginebra.
Even if he is busy with the finals, Guiao said he will request Standhardinger through San Miguel management to attend practices.
"Mukhang naka-focus pa siya sa final. What I will request to San Miguel is for him to come here and just watch. Physically we will not demand anything from him until the finals is over.
Guiao also said Standhardinger's presence is key so as he could learn the system.
"Kailangan makita na niya 'yung paano tinatakbo 'yung sistema," said Guiao.
