KUALA LUMPUR - Christian Standhardinger remained mum on his plans for the coming PBA rookie draft, saying that he is committed to play in the next season of the Asean Basketball League (ABL).

The Fil-German big man said he will be suiting up in the ABL following a hectic three-tournament campaign he crowned with a gold medal for the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games.

Alhough he didn't mention any team during a brief interview just moments after Gilas Pilipinas won the gold in men's basketball, it has been widely reported that Standhardinger is set to play for the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions.

"Six months, (I'll play) in the ABL. I don't know if I will put my name in the draft. We will see," said Standhardinger, whose mother Liz traces her roots to Angono, Rizal.

The 28-year-old US NCAA Division I veteran said the SEA Games gold made all the hard work and travel of the past one-and-a-half months worth it.

Standhardinger debuted for Gilas Pilipinas in the Jones Cup in Taipei, joined the Fiba Asia Cup team in Lebanon as a naturalized player, then left late in the Beirut campaign to give the Gilas cadets the frontline presence they need in Kuala Lumpur.

"This is the most memorable moment for me," said Standhardinger, who finished with 11 points in the gold medal match. "It was a tough summer for me, one-and-a-half months of non-stop tournaments. I'm happy to end this with the victory."

"Everything is worth it for Gilas," he added.

Moments after winning the gold medal, Standhardinger asked if he can have the Philippine flag which a member of the Philippine secretariat seated in one section of the MABA Stadium was holding.

Standhardinger said he will keep the flag and display it in his home as a keepsake.

"This is very special obviously," said Standhardinger. "It brings happiness and joy to the Filipino people. I'm very glad that we made it. I'm glad that we played to our full potential and didn't give them any chance."
