See Gilas keeps positive attitude after Scottie Thompson injury
“Aside from spending time and thinking and discussing our practice plans, I spent a lot of time in the team development aspect as well,” said Reyes in an interview posted by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. “You can feel that energy and drive, the team spirit.”
“That’s very, very important for any team… (The team spirit) is increasing by the day. We hope we sustain that,” said Reyes.

Gilas Pilipinas has started to ramp up its training camp with twice-a-day practices in Kaunas. It has also won two games against Ukraine 20-under team, and lost a game against a Lithuania pro selection.
Scottie Thompson, though, will no longer participate in the tune-up games after sustaining a metacarpal fracture in his shooting hand, with the timetable for his return to be known once the reigning PBA MVP goes back to Manila.
Thompson’s injury, however, hasn’t dampened the spirits of Gilas, with Reyes and the team keeping a positive attitude in their camp.
Reyes said the camaraderie has become noticeable during their practices and the tune-up games they have played.
“We definitely feel it and it is showing in the kind of intensity that we are feeling in the practices. We just hope to continue,” said Reyes.
