CALVIN Abueva was still a no-show in Gilas Pilipinas' fourth practice for the Fiba Asia Cup starting nine days from now.
Gilas coach Chot Reyes said there is no news from the Alaska camp yet about the whereabouts of the energetic forward other than he's attending to "personal matters."
Abueva has yet to show up in the training of the team bound for the Beirut, Lebanon showcase and has also missed Alaska's last game against Star in the PBA Governors Cup.
"Wala pa ring balita e," said Reyes when asked about the status of Abueva after they wrapped up their practice at the Upper Deck gym on Thursday. "(Kino-contact namin siya) through Alaska, through their team manager, pero wala, there's no news."
Growing impatient, Reyes gave an ultimatum.
"If he doesn't come by tomorrow we're gonna be forced to drop him. We have no other recourse," said Reyes, whose team will practice at 8 p.m. on Monday.
But Reyes said he hopes it doesn't come to that.
Dropping him from the lineup will be another blow to the team which didn't have the luxury of time to prepare for the conclave among Asia's best teams.
"Iyan ang malaking problema (yung ipapalit sa kanya kapag natanggal), hindi ko pa alam (kung sino)," said the outspoken mentor.
Abueva last served the country in the Seaba Championships in Manila where he averaged 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
