CAMILLE Clarin delivered the game-winning putback as the Philippines edged the Netherlands, 10-9, in the 2019 Fiba 3x3 Under-18 World Cup Wednesday in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The 18-year-old Fil-Canadian stayed with her shot and got the leather anew off of a rebound joust before canning the winner as time expired.
That was the biggest of her three points as the Philippines improved to 2-1 in Pool C.
Ella Fajardo paced the Patrick Aquino-coached Filipinas with six points built on two deuces, while Karl Ann Pingol had one point.
Fajardo buried a big two-pointer with 1:56 remaining to grab an 8-6 lead, but the Philippines quickly found itself in penalty, leading to Fleur Johanna Clazina Maria Bastiaansen cutting the lead down to one with a split from the line.
Alissa Van Der Plas drained a go-ahead deuce with 59 seconds remaining as Netherlands took a 9-8 lead, but a pair of turnovers in the endgame proved to be the undoing for the Dutch, with Fajardo tying the game at the stripe in the final 29.9 before Clarin's heroics in the endgame.
The Filipinas aim to progress to the crossover quarterfinals when they finish off their group stages assignment against 2017 silver medalists Czech Republic.
Jamy De Kock, Bastiaansen, and Van Der Plas scored three points each for Netherlands.
The scores:
Philippines 10 - Fajardo 6, Clarin 3, Pingol 1, Surada 0.
Netherlands 9 - De Kock 3, Bastiaansen 3, Van Der Plas 3, Van Oosten 0.
