CHANGSHA, China – Calvin Abueva will just have a few days of rest before he dons the national colors anew.

The enigmatic Alaska forward takes his act from Changsha to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as he banners the Manila North team seeing action in the Fiba 3x3 World Tour Finals.

The meet is slated October 15-16, less than two weeks after Abueva’s scintillating debut stint with Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba Asia Championship here.

Abueva will have for teammates fellow Ace Vic Manuel, Gilas Pilipinas reserve Troy Rosario, and Karl Dehesa of Mahindra. The team will be handled by Eric Altamirano.

Abueva and Co. earned a berth in the two-day event after finishing runner-up to defending world champion Novid Sad Al Wahda during the Manila leg of the tournament held last August.

Alaska team manager Dickie Bachmann, though, is concerned that the wear and tear might caught up with ‘The Beast’ considering he has been playing non-stop basketball with Gilas from the Estonia pocket tournament, Jones Cup, all the way to this Olympic qualifying tournament.

“Maybe one negative part is he’ll be tired, but knowing Calvin has so much energy that he’ll want to play,” said the Alaska executive, who along with Sean Uytengsu, son of team owner Fred Uytengsu, visited the other day members of the Aces team currently playing for Gilas.
