JUSTIN Brownlee continues to make progress in his recovery from the dislocated thumb in time for his campaign with Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
Gilas coach Tim Cone said on Monday Brownlee has started working out in the US to get himself back in shape as his right thumb injury continues to heal.

Cone said Brownlee recently sent him a video of the thumb that he injured during last March’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals between Barangay Ginebra and TNT.
“He sent me a video where he manipulated his thumb… to tell me that his thumb, he’s got a full range of motion,” said Cone at the sidelines of The Champions Class coaching clinic organized by Gilas and Barangay Ginebra assistant coach Richard Del Rosario held on Monday at The Bellevue in Alabang.

“He will probably be coming in the next couple of weeks. He is working out in the States and he is back to basketball activities. He should be good to go in late July,” said Cone.
Late July is of course the time where Gilas Pilipinas will start preparations for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from August 5 to 17.
Cone said the plan is to have Brownlee already in the country by July or even earlier so that he can continue to ramp up activities in preparation for the Asia Cup.
“We don’t have an exact date yet but probably, I would say in a next week or two. We want him here by first week of July just to make him in control with our trainers and working out, so when the team comes together in late July, he will be ready to go,” said Cone.
