BRAZIL kept its unblemished slate in Group F after nipping Greece, 79-78, on Tuesday night in the Fiba Basketball World Cup 2019 in Nanjing, China.
Anderson Varejao scored 22 points and hit a floater with 14 seconds left to give Brazil a 78-76 lead before surviving in the endgame to take a 2-0 win-loss record in the group stage.
After Leandro Barbosa split his two free throws, the Brazilians escaped with the victory after Kostas Sloukas missed the last of his three free throws with just two seconds left in the game after he was fouled by Didi Louzada.
Marquinhos Sousa added 15 points, and Barbosa and Alex Garcia each had 13 points.
Georgios Printezis and Nick Calathes had 20 and 16 points each while reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo had 13 for Greece, which now has a 1-1 record.
In other matches, Joe Ingles had 17 points as Australia trounced Senegal, 81-68, while New Zealand beat Montenegro, 93-83, for an even 1-1 record in Group F.
Czech Repubic beat Japan, 89-76, to take its first win in two outings in Group E, as Dominican Republic made it 2-0 in Group G after a 70-68 win over Germany.
Lithuania also stayed unbeaten after two games with a 92-69 win over Canada in Group H, as France took a 2-0 record in Group G with a 103-64 win over Jordan.
