LYCEUM'S impressive start to the NCAA Season 93 basketball tournament suffered a blow on when head coach Topex Robinson was slapped with a one-game suspension following his ejection from the Pirates' win against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Thursday.
Robinson was sent off at the 6:41 mark of the second quarter of the Pirates' 97-93 win over the Generals for incurring two technical fouls and league rules carry an automatic one-game suspension for such infraction.
The former PBA player and concurrent Alaska assistant coach will now miss out on the Pirates' August 18 game against in-form Letran, where the league leaders will be looking to stretch their unbeaten start to the season to eight matches.
"It's a learming opportunity for us to be mentally tough. We trust our players to be leaders," said Robinson upon being informed about the suspension.
St. Benilde's JJ Domingo was also slapped with a one-game suspension after he was tossed out in a 71-101 loss to San Sebastian.
On the other hand, the NCAA management committee has yet to tackle the case of Nic Omorogbe, a member of the Perpetual Help coaching staff who stands accused of damaging the door of the Altas' locker room at the Filoil Flying V Centre on Friday after a loss to Letran.
