ANDRAY Blatche dropped by the Mall of Asia Arena to watch the PBA Philippine Cup tussle between Rain or Shine and Alaska.
At the same time, he watched and observed too, how the Elasto Painters work out their system which is almost similar to the one being run by Yeng Guiao for the Team Pilipinas side that is bound for the Fiba World Cup qualifiers.
"The nice thing about it was in yesterday's practice, nandun siya. So he walked through some of our plays at Gilas with some of the players," said Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia, lead deputy of Yeng Guiao with the national team.
The 6-foot-11 Blatche practiced with Elasto Painters and national team stalwarts Gabe Norwood, Raymond Almazan, and Beau Belga in the presence of Guiao and Garcia on Saturday during his first practice with the national team at the Meralco gym.
He further familiarized himself with the system by watching Rain or Shine demolish debuting Alaska Aces on Sunday.
Garcia added Blatche also went to MoA to watch the featured doubleheader which had reigning Governors Cup champion Magnolia going up against TnT Katropa and meet familiar faces.
The naturalized player is set to have his first full practice with Team Pilipinas on Monday.
"Mahilig talaga si Blatche ng games even before. When he's in the Philippines, he wants to watch as many games as possible. So we know he's going to watch tonight's game," said the Rain or Shine mentor.
Garcia was quick to deny one thing, though.
"Hindi namin import si Blatche," he said with a grin.
