THE hearings for the naturalization of Bennie Boatwright will resume in May, now that the San Miguel import is back in the country to see action in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner's Cup.

“First week of May, yun ang schedule niya right now,” said Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas executive director Erika Dy.

The Senate is currently in recess, which explains the reason why the proceedings will happen in May.

Last March, Boatwright's naturalization was tackled at the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights chaired by Sen. Kiko Pangilinan but was later deferred because he wasn't around for the hearings as he was in Korea playing professionally.

Naturalization applicants Malick Diouf and Elizabeth Means were present in those hearings, with the house bill seeking their Filipino citizenship already approved in third and final reading.

Boatwright already attended Senate hearings last November 2025 to submit requirements for the proceedings.
