BEAU Belga has opted to stay behind and not join Gilas Pilipinas in China to prepare for the coming PBA Governors’ Cup with Rain or Shine.
Belga said he will pass on national coach Yeng Guiao's offer to leave with the team on Thursday to watch Gilas Pilipinas in the World Cup. Instead he plans to start preparations for the Elastopainters' campaign in the season-ending conference.
From the final cuts who were offered the chance to travel with the team in China, only Marcio Lassiter has opted to join the trip so far.
“Pahinga na kasi wala na rin naman kaming gagawin doon eh. Sila rin naman ang magpa-practice,” Belga said.
At this point, Belga said he should be getting ready for the Governors’ Cup where the Elastopainters will be looking to bounce back after their semifinal loss to San Miguel in the Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.
“Pag nandoon ako, kain, tulog lang. Patay tayo doon. Tapos pagbalik ko sa Rain or Shine, wala sa kundisyon. Sayang ‘yung pinondo ko rito. Ask ako for a week off sa Rain or Shine tapos pagbalik, ensayo uli, prepare sa third conference,” said Belga.
A day after being cut, Belga showed up for Tuesday’s practice and was there again on Wednesday afternoon on the eve of Gilas Pilipinas' departure for China.
“Willing pa tumulong,” said Belga. “Sa tingin ko, may maitutulong pa ako before they leave."
